Hudsons debut in
New Zealand Latte Art Championship

July 26, 2022

One of our senior baristas, Rosina Matthews participated in the national Latte Art Championship 2022 hosted in Auckland in July. This year participants were challenged to recreate images of something unique with a bit of storytelling, all in the canvas of a latte! Rosina chose to highlight her Maori heritage through native bird life. She can be seen recreating a fantail. We love her pouring technique shown in the tail, and the details she created using edible ink to define the body and face. An adorable result!

This was a first for both Rosina and Hudsons. We are very proud of Rosina’s courage for taking part in a competition filled with baristas from all over New Zealand with a huge range of experience. Our team is extremely proud of Rosina’s results in the competition, and we are all inspired to keep pushing our love of coffee and embracing the art form it is.

We hope to be a part of this competition again in the future in order to meet more creatives in the coffee industry in New Zealand, and to give all our baristas something exciting to strive for outside the traditional day to day joys of coffee.

Keep an eye out on our social media pages for an upcoming addition to our in store latte art experience! Taking latte art to the digital world… very exciting! We love the joy this competition has created for Rosina and the entire Hudsons family, and we have been inspired to bring this joy into our own stores.
